Gentle Removal of Teeth when Needed
Third molars or wisdom teeth constitute the last group of permanent molars that appear. They are also the ones most likely to need extraction due to various issues. But, other teeth could need extraction as well if they are unable to be saved through treatment for root canals or any other treatments.
Some of the most popular reasons for having teeth extracted are:
- Tooth that is damaged – caught in bone or gums and has not emerged correctly
- A small or crowded mouth, with teeth, is likely to make other teeth move or crack due to a lack of space
- Decay or infection occurs when the tooth is affected by severe tooth decay or an infection that can’t be treated with fillings or root canal treatment. It may be necessary to extract the tooth.
Dr. Bajaj may recommend the removal of one or more of your teeth if any of these concerns apply to you. We may also suggest dental care to make your visit more relaxing.

Wisdom Tooth Extractions FAQs
What age is wisdom tooth removal needed?
Most people have their wisdom teeth removed sometime during their high school or college years. But they can continue developing until you’re nearly 30 years old. We typically recommend removing your wisdom teeth as soon as side effects like infection, impaction, or pain develop before they can cause damage to your neighboring healthy teeth.
At Steele Creek Smiles, we will take dental X-rays to evaluate your wisdom tooth development. This imaging allows us to identify the best time for wisdom tooth removal, depending on your circumstances.
Is wisdom teeth removal painful?
We take special steps to make sure our patients are comfortable during their wisdom tooth removal appointment. We use numbing to help patients feel as little discomfort as possible. In addition, we will provide you with appropriate post-procedure medications and instructions for pain relief.
How can I prepare for wisdom teeth removal?
We recommend you avoid eating or drinking anything for a few hours before the procedure, and arrange for someone to drive you home afterward.
What are the risks of not removing wisdom teeth?
Wisdom teeth that do not emerge properly may increase the risk of gum disease, oral infections, and tooth damage. They may also make it difficult during orthodontic care or make alignment issues worse. Wisdom teeth are also vulnerable to decay as they are harder to reach while brushing and flossing.
What should I expect during the procedure?
During the procedure, we’ll numb the area with local anesthesia and carefully remove the tooth. You may feel some pressure, but you shouldn’t feel any pain.
