Tooth Extractions

Get Relief with Our Steele Creek Tooth Extraction Services

When a tooth is decayed, infected, or damaged, we do everything in our power to save it. However, if the tooth cannot be saved, we will do everything we can to make your tooth extraction treatment as relaxing and comfortable as possible. Learn more about our Steele Creek tooth extraction services below.

Extracting a Tooth: Our Process

Though it may sound extreme, tooth extraction is a relatively simple procedure that can be done with local anesthetic. If you experience any pain, you can signal your dentist to stop by raising your hand, and he or she will apply more anesthetic to ensure you are comfortable.

After the tooth has been extracted, you can keep swelling to a minimum by applying an ice pack

or an unopened bag of frozen vegetables can help keep swelling to a minimum. Over-the-counter NSAIDS, such as ibuprofen, or pain medications prescribed by your dentist, can also help keep pain and swelling to a minimum. Pain should be minimal and should not last for more than 48 hours.

After Your Extraction: Why Empty Sockets Should Be Filled

Although it is cheaper and easier to simply leave the hole as it is, this is not recommended. Having missing teeth not only prevents you from eating certain foods and looking your best, it also can shift your bite, causing chronic jaw pain and other issues. A missing tooth can even result in bone loss of the lower jaw. Therefore, we will usually recommend you receive a dental implantbridge, or denture to replace the missing teeth.
